Kris and Ollies Festival wedding, Cumbria
End May 2015 – Best festival wedding of the year! (In Matt’s humble, slightly biased opinion)
What happens when you’re both a guest at the wedding, and building the marquees? Well, in this case, amazing times were had, beautiful spaces built, and a week spent in a field at the gorgeous Dry Beck Farm, Cumbria. The couple are close friends of ours, and we were delighted to be able to help create such a special weekend. The brief was for a mini festival style event, over 3 days, with a elegant, natural look, using wooden and woodland items where possible. We decided on using our lovely flat ivory linings, with our special patterned roof and wall drapes, using three marquees combined into a L shape, providing a total of 2400 square foot of cover. Our signature, hand sanded and varnished trestle tables, and wooden folding chairs seated 150, with rattan chairs for chilling round the fire outside, and a bar unit for the local ales to be served from.
Due to the length of time and numbers attending, we installed a full plastic tile sub floor, underneath our corn coloured matting, to make sure the floor stayed dry throughout the event, and the third marquee, housing the soundsystem had a fullraised timber dancefloor.
Oli is a tree surgeon and made a beautiful wooden arch for the ceremony, and had friends from Invisible Circus and Arcadia in Bristol provided table centres, real ivy, flowers and finishing touches to the interior.
To save costs for the happy couple, lots of their wedding guests stayed before and after the weekend to help with the setup and pack down. The weather for the whole week was pretty much perfect and we all spent the end of every working day sat round a fire eating amazing food together and sharing stories – super nice times.
